WEEELABEX in practice
OK, so we are WEEELABEX-certified. What does this actually mean for the way in which your electronic waste is processed? Van Leeuwen Group distinguishes between bulky equipment, small household appliances and computers and their accessories. We can completely disassemble each type of appliance, no matter to which category it belongs, thus allowing us to separate all the various materials. This enables us to recycle 90% of the bulky equipment we collect, as well as 91% of small household appliances and computers and their accessories. When we disassemble devices, we remove harmful plastics that may contain bromide, thus allowing them to be disposed of safely.

‘WEEELABEX’ is short for ‘Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Label of Excellence’. The certification scheme is subject to WEEE legislation. In a nutshell, the label governs the collection, transport, storage, processing and recycling of electronic devices. Companies that meet the WEEELABEX requirements are allowed to call themselves ‘WEEELABEX-compliant companies’ and may use their certification to show that they meet the quality requirements for the processing and disposal of unwanted electrical and electronic devices.
